The history of winegrowing in Lebanon goes back an incredible 5000 years. However, the present is determined by the situation in the neighbouring countries of Israel and Syria. In the middle of the witch’s cauldron of world politics, oenologists are looking for the best way of working in this fine terroir. And in spite of all the history, winegrowing is somehow only at the start.Bottles with diverse labels and cork closures differentiate wine from all other beverages. At the same time, the individual packaging is cumbersome when selling the product. The handling causes work, and what remains in the bottles has a very limited shelf life. Here, dispensing systems are a useful addition.
For the longest time in the 20th century, corks were considered to be the only true closure for a wine bottle. Nobody probably ever questioned that. However, with increasing consumption, the natural product revealed its weaknesses. “Cork taint“ made alternative stoppers seem attractive – although not really acceptable at first. Today, a lot has changed in both sectors.

Sauvignon Blanc is cultivated across the globe today. It is regarded as a high-quality white wine that can hold its head up high.
"We harvest around one hundred tonnes of grapes every year “, explains Tanya Avramova, that is 100,000 bottles every year, "and we could do a lot more". You cannot live from a small-scale operation here." That might sound a bit brisk for a vineyard that has been in business for five years. But it describes the situation that so many small winemaking operations have in Bulgaria.
A lot has been going on in Rioja. The traditional Spanish winegrowing region has changed which is reflected by a fascinating architecture. Modern vineyards appear like a symbol of the change from a very old wine style to very modern wines, which are made with a great deal of technical effort.
No region stands for wine more than Bordeaux. All over the world the name is almost synonymous with good wine. The success story is centuries old. But complicated. In spite of all its fame, it requires a lot of instinct to deal with the branched sales system.
